GALLERY: Penarth makes yet another movie a(PIER)rance

Penarth has been spotted on television so much in recent years that it's beginning to feel a little run of the mill.

Since just 2017, the town has served as a filming location for the Amazon Prime romance Say My Name, the Netflix teen drama Sex Education and even frequently for Doctor Who, available on iPlayer.

Ticking off another streaming platform, the town now also features in the Sky original movie Six Minutes to Midnight, which premiered yesterday.

Starring Eddie Izzard and Judi Dench, the film tells the story of wealthy German families sending their teenage girls to a quaint seaside town on the eve of World War Two.

The film crew, including Izzard, descended on Penarth in 2018 - temporarily transforming the seafront into a seaside holiday destination of yonder.

While here, they shot a film noir-esque scene in artificial rain down by the Esplanade and a chase scene on the Pier itself.

Flick through our gallery for some (unfortunately rather grainy) glimpses of Penarth on widescreen.

No spoilers!
