A donation of £10,000 has been received by the Dinas Powys Community Council's flood relief appeal.

Chair of the council Richard Grigg has expressed his gratitude to the anonymous donor. He said, "This is a wonderful boost to the appeal fund. We experienced dreadful flooding on 23 December with over 100 houses seriously affected.

"So far we as a community council have allocated around £6,000, a 'Justgiving' appeal raised £7,000 and Dinas Powys organisations have added to the fund. The generosity of Dinas Powys Rotary, the Waterloo Trust and Ecumenical 7 and other organisations is very heartwarming.

"This made around £20,000. So this latest donation puts the figure at £30,000.

"The community council has now legally created this fund and the terms for grants applications. So many people have helped in financial and voluntary ways."
