Local girl guide Nia Jones and explorer scout Oscar are holding a fundraising concert to help them on their way to represent Wales at next years European Jamboree in Poland.

Nia has been selected to be a part of a group of 18 guides from across Wales to go to Poland in 2020.

She is joined by local explorer scout Oscar in her fundraising efforts who is one of 36 explorer scouts selected from across Wales to represent the country.

The team will go out for 10 days and join other scouts and guides from all over Europe.

The theme for the Jamboree will be "Sustainability".

Part of the selection process means that Nia and Oscar need to raise enough money to attend the event.

Nia has been working really hard to raise the £1300 she needs to go to Poland.

As part of her target, she has organised a Christmas Concert for her and Oscar, on the 21st December 7pm, at Stanwell Road Baptist church.

The South Wales Male voice choir will be putting on a concert alongside Ellie Gent, a local soprano, who sings with the Youth Welsh National Opera.

Nia, her guide leader and her family are reaching out in the hopes that they can fill the church for her fundraiser.

Nia said: ''I am very proud to represent Wales and I am looking forward to meeting other guides from Europe and hope to bring back lots of exciting ideas to share with others.''

Tickets are £5 and can be collected from the Umpa Lumpa sweet shop in Windsor Arcade, Penarth Quays Marina Office or Jenn 07970873190/ Sian 07545615146.
