The Friends of Penarth Library (FoPL) have been successful in their application for a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.

This money means the Friends are able to go ahead with their plans to create an outdoor space at the library, where events and activities can take place.

Work on levelling and paving the library garden will commence in June and should take about three days to complete.

The FoPL will then purchase plants and bird nesting boxes to make the garden eco-friendly and interesting.

They will also buy seating to enable the space to be used for children's story time, Rhyme and Sign and various other activities.

The FoPL hopes to participate in the Penarth Open Garden Trail this year.

The group would like to say a big thank you to all players of the National Lottery, and also to the people of Penarth who made such generous contributions to the library garden project.
