Foxy's Deli give quirky sandwich board display of solidarity

Foxy's Deli and Cafe on Glebe Street have written a Titanic-themed message on their sandwich board to encourage continued support for the high street during lockdown.

It reads:

"If you would like to know how it feels to be in hospitality during the pandemic... Remember when the Titanic was sinking and the band continued to play...? Well we're the band."

With characteristic openness, owner Sian Fox confesses the inspiration:

"We just googled quirky COVID signs," she laughs.

"But it's perfect because we really want to maintain awareness of how local businesses are still going.

"Some shops can't open at all and even those that have been running a takeaway service have seen a drop in trade this lockdown.

"Unless you see us open, then you might just assume we've closed. Just remember that we're still going and still in need of support, just like in the first lockdown."
