Vale of Glamorgan Council is working with local agencies to keep the Vale safe this summer.

Following the success of the 2023 campaign, the Council's Community Safety, Enforcement Service, Tourism, and Neighbourhood Services teams will work closely under the umbrella of the Safer Vale Partnership with South Wales Police, RNLI, the Coastguard, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the ARC CCTV Control Room, British Transport Police, Welsh Ambulance Service and Cardiff Council to keep residents, businesses, and visitors safe this summer.

The Safer Vale Partnership's Operation Elstree aims to tackle crime, safety concerns and anti-social behaviour across the county's popular summer destinations, including Barry Island, Ogmore, Cosmeston Lakes, and Penarth Marina.

During the 2023 campaign, 95 responsive actions were undertaken by the partnership. Building on the success of last year's work, agencies will regularly meet again to share intelligence, plan for upcoming events, and review and coordinate responses to incidents in 2024.

Cllr Sandra Perkes, Cabinet member for Community Safety said: "Collaborative work under the Safer Vale Partnership is instrumental in keeping the Vale safe all year round.

"Every summer, the County's coastline and open spaces attract a large number of visitors, increasing the demand on community safety agencies during these months.

"I was delighted to hear about the successful outcomes of last year's campaign, and so I'm pleased to see the campaign back for 2024."

The Safer Vale Partnership welcomes reports of anti-social behaviour. Information about reporting is available on the Vale of Glamorgan Council's website: https://www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk/en/living/Safer-Vale/Safer-Vale-Partnership.aspx#Reporting
