Volunteer drivers with East Vale Community Transport are ready to take people to their GP surgery for vaccination in one of EVCT's wheelchair friendly minibuses.

People who need personal assistance will need their own escort, as drivers will not be able to accompany you into the surgery. However, they will pick you and your escort up from your home, take you to your surgery, wait for you and take you home. EVCT serves the eastern section of the Vale and is based in Penarth.

The buses have been adapted with perspex screens between driver and passenger and are sanitised after every journey.

EVCT co-ordinator Steve Thomas said: "Sadly Covid regulations have made our usual group trips impossible but we are ready to take individuals and escorts to their local surgery for vaccination.

"We shall need notice in order to organise your journey but driver will be able to provide a door to door service."

Donations to defray costs would be welcome. For more information, please call 02920 705138
