The Vale Council have issued a statement after images of litter, groups of youths, tombstoning, parties and the generally inappropriate use of Comeston Park has come to light.

They said: ''We've seen an increase in the irresponsible use of parks, including young people congregating, group BBQs and the inappropriate use of life-saving buoys.

"We would like to remind residents that we are still in lockdown due to COVID-19.

"Although you can now meet people from one other household, you must still follow social distancing guidance, remember:

• Stay local (Within 5 miles of home)

• Stay 2 metres away from anyone outside your household

• Minimise your time outside

• Wash your hands as soon as you get home

''These measures remain a vital part of our efforts to reduce the spread of Coronavirus.

''Our staff should not have to spend their time dealing with this or be threatened for reminding people of the restrictions.''

Residents have also noted the inappropriate parking of cars in residential areas outside the park. Images of this can be viewed in the gallery above that were sent into us by a reader.
