Everyone who cares about their town has opinions about the direction that town should be going in. Penarth Nub News serves as a platform upon which you can voice those opinions.

Today, Conservative Cardiff South and Penarth Senedd Candidate Leighton Rowlands voices his stance on the state of the NHS in Wales.

I want the NHS improved in Wales after 20 years of Labour's failures.

Covid-19 has put a spotlight on how Labour is running the NHS in Wales and how deep the problem is.

Before the pandemic, Wales is the only part of the UK that has ever seen health spending cut in real terms. In 2012 the Welsh Labour Government cut the budget by £800milion the only Government in UK to do so.

They have made waiting lists for routine treatment so long that health outcomes in Wales are significantly worse than the rest of United Kingdom.

Labour handling of the pandemic has highlighted they cannot run the NHS in Wales.

People in Cardiff South & Penarth and in Wales are paying the price for the lack vaccine preparedness, that First Minister had said that they are holding back vaccines because he does not want to use it all in the first week and have the vaccinators standing around with nothing to do but then his health minister and Education Minster saying they are not hold back leaving people confused on the situation.

For too long the NHS in Wales has been poorly run by Welsh Labour and Covid 19 had put the NHS in Wales in the spotlight for many residents in Cardiff South & Penarth and across Wales.

We need to fight for proper funding for our Welsh NHS, and make sure that Cardiff South & Penarth residents get access to the care they need and deserve. A Strong economic will deliver a strong NHS.

We need to get the vaccines out asap this a sprint not a leisurely walk, that why I want to see a Vaccine Minister take control to roll out the vaccines so the Health Minister can concentrate on backlog within the NHS.

We need to cut the red tape enable pharmacies and retired NHS professional to come back give out the vaccine.

Mobilise a voluntary army to support the NHS were there are delays and introduce 24/7 vaccines.

I have seen first-hand the tremendous hard work out NHS staff have worked that why we need more doctors and nurse and other professional staff to ease the pressure on the NHS.

That why my plan is to fight for proper funding of the Welsh NHS, and make sure that Cardiff South & Penarth residents get access to the care they need and deserve.
