Dog owners who fail to clean up after their pets foul public spaces could soon find themselves under the watch of enforcement officers.
Vale of Glamorgan Council is reviewing proposals that could see the expansion of existing anti-social behaviour rules.
Currently retsrictions only apply in certain areas of high footfall but enforcement officers may be given the power to issue on-the-spot fines when they catch someone dog fouling in any public space and highway.
A Vale of Glamorgan council spokesman said: "The council's enforcement team already issues Fixed Penalty Notices for dog fouling in specific high footfall, publicly accessible areas, such as parks, beaches and promenades.
"The council's cabinet will soon consider proposals to amend a Public Space Protection Order to allow similar action to be taken on all public highways and other council land accessed by the public.
"Should this proposal be taken forward, the appropriate public consultation will be undertaken in accordance with the relevant legislation."
