Coronavirus: Penarth Pier's 125th Anniversary Exhibition Postponed Amidst Widespread Event Cancellations

The Celebration of Penarth Pier's 125th anniversary has been postponed amongst a wide range of other cancellations at the Pier Pavilion in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Penarth Pier Pavilion said: ''Unfortunately, this exhibition has been postponed due to recent news regarding Coronavirus.

''We apologise to the artists and potential attendees for the inconvenience caused and ask that artists refrain from bringing any work down to the Pavilion until a new date has been announced.

''We hope to have a new date agreed on ASAP and to continue with the celebration of the pier and its heritage with all of the wonderful artists involved. All the best and take care.''

The event was due to take place on the 20th of March.

It was set as a Penarth Pier 125th Anniversary Exhibition

Featuring the works of:

• Judith Jones

• Pat Jones

• Haf Weighton

• Carol Bartlett

• Diana Mead

• Melissa Fine Art Gallery

• Pauline Williams

And many more

Plus, the launch of a new children's book by local author Mari Jones and the National Piers Society's supporting exhibition of images and newspaper articles from the years leading up to the official opening of the pier in April 1895 and the subsequent creation of the Bijou Pavilion in 1907.

Rubicon, Snowcat Cinema, Howl Comedy and Waterloo Tea will also be closing/cancelling events until further notice.

Most recently, the Red Herring Theatre, who are based in Penarth, said they are committed to ensuring that their performance goes ahead as soon the situation allows but that their performance of Clue on Stage next week will be postponed.

Both the Pier Pavilion and Red Herring Theatre would appreciate customers support by retaining their tickets for the future production dates, however, any tickets purchased can be refunded via Ticketsource.

They said: ''As soon as we are able to announce the revised dates we will do so, thank you for your support and understanding.''
