Cardiff Bus which has many services running to and from Penarth will be following their Saturday schedule for weekdays due to a lack of demand since coronavirus.
They said: ''Since Monday's government statement which recommended all non-essential travel should be avoided, we have seen a reduction in the number of people travelling.
''We know many of you will still need to travel to-and-from work, school, college or to the shops and rely on our buses to get you there. We'd like to reassure you that we're still operating buses, but from Monday 23rd of March and until further notice we will follow Saturday timetables* on most routes during the week, with the exception of services 12, 15, 64, 65, 65A, 98, Cardiff MET M1, M2, M3, M4 and school routes which will follow their normal Monday to Friday timetables.
''Service 95 - A special service will run between Wood Street in the city centre and Heath Hospital to connect customers who would normally catch the 95 services between the Vale of Glamorgan and Heath Hospital.
''These customers will need to change buses at Wood Street JR. Click here for the timetable for the connecting service to Heath Hospital.
''Normal weekend timetables will still apply i.e. we will follow Saturday timetables on Saturdays, and follow Sunday timetables on Sundays.
''Our website and app will be updated soon to show relevant times for each day, so if you are unsure of times, please visit the routes and maps page on our website and select the date of travel from the drop-down calendar.
''School buses will still operate, however, if schools close, these services will then not run.
''Our Customer Service centre at our Head Offices on Sloper Road will be closed to customers from Monday 23rd March. If you lose an item on our buses, give our Lost Property department a call on 029 2066 6444, and we will do our best to return any essential items to you.
''Our Travel Centre at Westgate Street will remain open unless circumstances change.
''We continue to monitor our service and follow coronavirus guidelines and recommendations set by the government and Public Health Wales.
''Our focus now is on how we can maintain essential services, protect our customers and staff alike, safeguard jobs and ensure that we continue to be an essential part of our economy and communities.
''All essential updates will be made on our website and social media channels, so please keep an eye on those for the latest news.
''We would like to remind you that at Cardiff Bus we have extensive daily cleaning regimes that achieve high levels of hygiene. We have enhanced this level so when buses are in service an additional clean during the day will take place, especially on main customer and driver touch-points such as handrails, helping to reduce the risk for colleagues and customers alike.
''We realise that the current coronavirus situation is concerning, but it's at times like these we need to be kind to one another. Remember, a simple 'Cheers Drive' goes a long way.''
