Richard Grigg chair of the Dinas Powys Community Council and a number of councillors helped hand out sandbags to people at risk of flooding. Further supplies are being requested.

Council Grigg said, "I was pleased to represent the council as chair along with fellow councillors. We feel let down by the both the Vale Council and Natural Resources Wales. Their response on 23 December when over 100 houses were flooded and since has been very limited.

"We want to know what plans they have in the event of further serious rainfall. Last month they refused to deliver emergency sandbags to Dinas Powys. Residents say that blocked road gullies played a part in the problem. At long last some gullies are being cleaned but we do not know how good a job they are doing.

"Natural Resources are resisting calls to desilt the streams and to remove obstructions.

"The authorities appear to be indifferent to the plight of residents. The Vale Council has failed to engage with the public and refused to attend a ZOOM meeting with community councillors and residents.

"At a time of crisis the Vale Council simply went missing. Nevertheless we as a community council will do our utmost to aid residents and help to safeguard lives and properties as best we are able," said Councillor Grigg.
