The A4050 Cardiff Road at East Brook Station will be closed overnight on 25 September, for Network Rail to remove the existing footbridge at the station, the Vale of Glamorgan Council has confirmed.

In August, it was confirmed that the station car park and footbridge at the station would be closed until October while Network Rail complete refurbishment work safely.

The station has remained open for passengers since the closure began on 9 August, and Transport For Wales has released a new walking route for passengers to access the trains.

To allow for the removal to take place, a closure will be in place from junction of Redlands Road Penarth to junction of A4231 Barry Docks Link Road from 9pm on 25 September until 7am on 26 September.

Local signed diversions will be in place during the closure. The original target date to reinstall the bridge is 3 October, although it is not clear whether work is still on target as the bridge was originally scheduled to be removed on 21-22 August.
