A Cardiff founder is launching a new app to help people meet through everyday activities, from a coffee and a weekend walk to a game of tennis.

Belova, created by Elliott Bowen, launches on Friday 25 September at 5pm, initially on iPhone and the web.

The app will allow people to discover plans, join others or create their own, with the option to chat before meeting in person. It is designed for friendship and shared activities rather than dating.

The idea grew from Elliott's experiences travelling, where meeting people often happened naturally through doing things together. Returning home to Cardiff prompted him to explore how that could feel easier in everyday life.

Belova aims to help people who are new to the area, want to widen their circle or find that their friends are not always available. By giving people an activity to focus on, Elliott hopes to make taking the first step towards meeting someone new feel less daunting.

More than 200 people have already joined the waiting list ahead of launch.

While the initial launch focuses on Cardiff, the idea may also appeal to wider area south Wales residents looking to join activities in the city.

Belova has also established a community partnership with Cadoxton Imps football club in Barry.
