The Vale of Glamorgan Council has decided which bus companies will be responsible for operating important routes in the county. 

Nearly £1 million has been invested in these services, including money from its own budget as well as agreed finances from neighbouring authorities and a bus services support grant from the Welsh Government. 

Bus company names have not been disclosed by the council, but the services B3, 88, 89A/89B, 100, 303, 304, 320 and 321, which cover Penarth, Dinas Powys, Barry and the rural Vale, were all up for tender. 

The council's cabinet agreed upon these tender offers at a meeting on Thursday, June 9.  

Cllr Bronwen Brooks, the council's deputy leader and cabinet member for Sustainable Places, said: "The supply of good quality public transport is vital to help keep people throughout the Vale connected.  

"These services are required and used by many residents, commuters and visitors. 

"Effective public transport, in conjunction with good provisions for active travel, is one of the many tools used by the council to help locally address the climate change emergency.  

"It will help us in our Project Zero commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030." 

Cardiff Airport shuttlebus service 905 was also due for contract renewal and this service will be fully financed by Welsh Government.
