The children's play area at Belle Vue park is set to close from the start of next week, to allow for upgrade works.

From Monday 18 October, the play area will be shut. The Vale of Glamorgan Council said the works are expected to take five weeks to complete, weather permitting.

This means the play area will be closed during half-term.

"We hope the community enjoy these new facilities, thanks to s106 funding," said a spokesperson for the Council.

The s106 money in question derives from the Penarth Heights residential development.

The 'Wild Garden' play area will be 100% accessible, with upgrades including five new swings, a wheelchair roundabout, and a sensory play pit.

Meanwhile, work is expected to soon begin on demolishing the Bowls Pavilion.
