The Vale of Glamorgan Council has updated residents in Penarth and the wider area about bank holiday waste collections.

They said: ''There are NO changes to collection days this bank holiday.

''Please place out for collection before 7.00 am on your normal collection day.''

The bank holiday date has changed to a Friday rather than the traditional early May Monday.

This change was made so that the extended weekend falls on the 75th anniversary of VE day.

Although residents will be unable to attend the official ceremonies planned across the locality, there are lots of ways you can still celebrate virtually and from home.
