Armed Police Presence After an Affray in Penarth

Nub News witnessed armed police presence in Penarth yesterday afternoon alongside a police helicopter.

A video widely circulated on social media also displayed footage of the armed police and unmarked police cars on the streets of Penarth.

They are seen talking to local residents whilst the police helicopter whirrs above them.

Nub News contacted the police for a statement about the incident.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: ''South Wales Police responded to reports of a disturbance in the vicinity of Redlands Road, Penarth, at approximately 3.45pm yesterday (Sunday, October 13).

''Armed officers were deployed alongside divisional units to assist with a search of the area.

''A 16-year-old girl and a 32-year-old man were subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray.

''Both are currently in custody.''

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information about the incident, who has not yet spoken to police, is asked to contact 101, quoting occurrence 1900378979.
