RNLI Penarth has become one of the very first stations to introduce one of the "brand new" 'Tap To Save Lives' card readers.

Passersby on the Esplanade are now able to donate £3 by simply pressing their card against the contactless reader and thereby help the charity save lives at sea.

An RNLI fundraiser has told Nub News that the charity only began to introduce the readers last year, making the Penarth station an early adopter.

Jason Dunlop, lifeboat operations manager for Penarth, added:

"I am really proud of all the team in getting this off the ground. Fundraising for RNLI has been so hard through COVID-19."
