Business units at the Vale Enterprise Centre (VEC) on Hayes Road are at severe risk of flooding when Storm Bella strikes tonight.

Nub News has heard reports that business owners and staff have been unable to contact the Vale of Glamorgan Council for assistance. They say they feel "very stressed" and have been "left to their own devices".

The Met Office has issued an 'Amber Wind Warning' and 'Yellow Rain Warning'. They say the extreme weather may lead to "disruption and flooding". The flooding that has lingered since the 23rd will likely be exacerbated.

Some units at the VEC have already taken on water. Parts of Hayes Road are currently under a foot and a half of water and much of the site is flooded.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council have run out of sandbags after distributing 1,300 by 7 PM on Christmas day. Many business owners say they are struggling to get through to the Council's emergency line.

"I am very stressed," Michael Yorke, owner and founder of MY Wood Designs LTD told Nub News.

"We're trying to get hold of the Council but it just rings and rings and rings. We can't get hold of things and we're desperate.

"I appreciate it's Christmas, but it feels as though the Council has disappeared. We can't get hold of someone. No one's come down. We've been left to our own devices.

"Christmas has been very stressful."

Michael says those who operate from the VEC are considering filling pillow cases with sand from the beach.

"I was there on Christmas Eve clearing everything off the ground in my workshop, but it definitely might come to that.

"If we're flooded, I can't work. I've got employees and I need to pay their salaries. What will I do if I can't work? It will be devastating."

A member of the Vale of Glamorgan Council has told Nub News that on-call teams are out and that their emergency number is working.

They also say that Natural Resources Wales are responsible for flooding issues and that the Vale of Glamorgan Council is assisting.
