100 Years of Community Theatre

As part of its Centenary year celebrations, PODS will be staging an exhibition at the Pier Pavilion, charting its history over the past 100 years. Step back in time to 1924 to discover the origins of one of Wales' oldest community theatre companies together with details, images, costumes and props from many of the hundreds of musicals and plays that the Soceity has performed.
The Centenary Exhibition is a free event which opens on Saturday 24th August until Saturday 31st August from 10am to 4pm each day.
PODS Chairman, Mary Gardner said "I have been with PODS for more than half of its 100 year history and I am so proud to be part of this wonderful company that has brought pleasure over so many years to so many people in our community."
"Our Centenary year has already been a busy one with productions of the play, Shakespeare in Love, the hit musical, The Producers and our first open-air theatre performance of Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood at the Kymin. Our forthcoming Exhibition at the Pier Pavilion will be followed by a Gala Concert, also at the Pavilion in September, then the drama, Steel Magnolias in October at the Paget Rooms, and our annual panto, Sleeping Beauty and the Kingdom of Dreams, which has been specially devised and written for PODS as part of our Centenary."

The Pier Pavilion plays an important part in PODS' history and it is a fitting home for some of its Centenary productions this summer. PODS'
Tickets for all of PODS' forthcoming productions can be booked at www.ticketsource.co.uk/pods and further details are available from www.podspenarth.org. Tickets are not required for the Exhibition at the Pavilion as this is a free event.
