The SPAR, located on Brockhill Way in Penarth, will reopen this month after being closed for just over a year.

The shop provided a vital service for residents in the area and many were frustrated to see its closure alongside the removal of post office services.

Penarth Nub News contacted Blakemore Trade Partners, the regional distributor for SPAR to find out the details of the reopening.

A spokesperson said: ''The SPAR store will be reopening under new ownership on Monday 9th at 10am. The new owners are Nicholas Bennett and Shaun O'grady.

''Though they are opening on Monday they will not be opening with Post Office services.

''This is planned for the near future but waiting an installation date from the Post Office.

''They are opening this side of Christmas as they are aware that the community have been calling out for the store to re open and want to be able to offer a service before the festivities.

''Bigger and better things are planned for 2020 as the shop re establishes itself.''
