Penarth Nub News is delighted to announce that the Penarth Kumon Study Centre has become our very first sponsor.

This new partnership will support and help Nub News produce the latest news from our town, putting Penarth in your pocket.

2020 marked the 25th year of the Penarth Kumon Study Centre.

Run by Erica Austin, the centre offers Maths and English tutoring and support with the aim of enabling each student to reach their potential and to reach the stage of working above school level,

Erica estimates that over 2000 students in the Vale of Glamorgan have benefited from the programme, and she now has children of former pupils enrolled with her.

Throughout the last year, Erica continued to run the centre without a break - although for much of the year sessions have been conducted online rather than in-centre.

Erica has made it her mission to ensure that her students have received all her attention during this challenging past year, supporting the role of teachers at this time.

"Each child who enrols in the programme is dealt with as an individual and the programme is tailored to the individual student's needs," she tells Nub News.

"The aim is to develop the student's confidence, skills and abilities to thrive at school.

"Each student attends in person (when once again permitted) or online every week. They in addition are assigned work to complete at home during the week, which helps to reinforce the class instruction."

Until 31 March 2021, registration on the programme is free.

Penarth Nub News is thrilled to have Kumon and Erica on board as our first sponsor.

"We are very proud to have such a long-standing and well-respected company join the Nub News team," says Nub News CEO Karl Hancock.

"Much like Nub News, Kumon Penarth strives to make this community a better place. We look forward to forming a long and fruitful partnership with them."
