A banner protesting the controversial HS2 railway line has appeared on the Windsor Road/Plassey Street roundabout.

The nearest the HS2 line will come to Penarth is Birmingham, which emphasises how widespread opposition to the project is.

HS2 is a high speed railway line that will run between London and Birmingham after phase one of construction is completed.

Phase two will see the route extend as far as Manchester and Leeds.

Those who support the project say it will improve transport times, create jobs and help the economy.

Its detractors are worried about the impact on wildlife, the countryside, their homes and how much it will cost.

The nearest the HS2 line will come to Penarth is Birmingham, which emphasises how widespread opposition to the project is.

The Penarth banner, which was hung outside the entrance to Dingle Park at some point this weekend, reads:

"#DROP HS2. FUND A FUTURE"

The depiction of a badger suggests an ecological motive.

If you are reading this and are responsible for the banner, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
