Penarth Nub News is devoted to local business - we want our high street to thrive.

In this new feature, we take a peek behind-the-scenes as local businesses set up shop or make significant adaptations.

Today, arrival of a brand new restaurant in a well-known venue.

Local entrepreneurs Jayne Haywood and Jemma Evans will launch their first restaurant and bar, Barons Court, in Penarth.

The owners are currently breathing new life into the much-loved venue before its launch on Saturday 7th August.

Barons Court is among the oldest buildings in the Penarth area, and the duo are restoring it in the authentic, vintage-charm style that the Grade 2 listed building lends itself so well to.

Jayne and Jemma are working with award winning Head Chef Chris O'Brien who will ensure the smart bar & dining venture features a classic, yet contemporary, menu of farm-fresh dishes which push the boundaries of traditional cooking, using local ingredients wherever possible.

"I'm thrilled to be opening this exciting new venture in Penarth," Jemma said. "And collaborating with Chris for our menu is a dream come true.

"His imagination and skills can be seen throughout our carefully thought out menus, which focus on freshly prepared, innovative dishes that will visually delight and give our customers a wonderful dining experience.

"As well as our restaurant & bar menu, Chris has also come up with a creative menu of succulent Sunday roasts, all of which can be enjoyed while sipping Champagne, or enjoying a creative cocktail, a cool beer, or a favourite glass of wine."

Jemma added: "As a free house, we've enjoyed the independence of choosing a wide range of beers and wines without being tied to one supplier; our drinks have been chosen with our customers in mind and to complement Chris' creative dishes.

"The bar vibe will be industrial chic; somewhere to equally enjoy after-work drinks, a family get together, or a special celebration cocktail."

Experienced Bar & Restaurant Manager, Barrie Cook, is looking forward to overseeing an enthusiastic team who are passionate about providing excellent freshly cooked food, outstanding service and an unrivalled guest experience.

He said: "We can't wait to open. We have the ideal fusion of flavours; and the combination of great fresh food and delicious drinks, in such a wonderful setting, will undoubtedly satisfy any appetite.

"We look forward to seeing you soon, and to becoming your new favourite place to eat and drink."
