Set against the breathtaking landscapes of 1970s New Zealand, Holy Days is a warm-hearted comedy-drama about faith, friendship and finding hope in the most unexpected places.

Young Brian is struggling to come to terms with the loss of his mother when he finds himself drawn into the wonderfully unconventional world of three elderly nuns — Sister Agnes, Sister Luke and Sister Mary Clare. The sisters live together in a crumbling convent that has seen better days, but when they discover their beloved home is under threat, they refuse to give it up without a fight.

Convinced that a missing property deed could provide the answer, the determined trio set off on an unlikely road trip, with Brian joining them on their mission. What follows is an unpredictable journey across New Zealand filled with mishaps, laughter and unexpected encounters, as four very different people discover that they may need one another more than they realised.

Starring three celebrated screen legends — Judy Davis, Miriam Margolyes and Jacki Weaver — alongside newcomer Elijah Tamati, Holy Days is an uplifting and gently eccentric story about unlikely friendships, second chances and the different ways we search for somewhere — and someone — to call home.

Based on the novel by acclaimed New Zealand author Dame Joy Cowley and directed by Nathalie Boltt, Holy Days is a charming road movie with plenty of humour, heart and a little divine intervention along the way.
