The £2 congestion charge in Cardiff is being investigated and deliberated by Cardiff Council, but with Penarth's proximity to the city centre being so close, it is important to consider the impact of this proposal locally.
Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan councils officially announced a climate emergency last year and so it came as no surprise that traffic, congestion and transport would be important considerations in 2020.

From the 1st February 2020, changes will be implemented to patient and visitor parking at University Hospital Llandough, Barry Hospital and the University Hospital of Wales.
Parking for patients and visitors for these sites will remain free for the first four hours.
Penarth's Town Mayor Cllr Angela Thomas is holding a fundraising concert with a local folk band in aid of the National Autistic Society Cardiff and the Vale.
The evening will take place in Penarth Paget Rooms with a special appearance from The Brwmys: A foot-stomping, jig-tastic, future folk group from Cardiff.

Over the weekend volunteers from the community group Friends of Victoria Square clubbed together to remove a swathe of unsightly brambles from the square.
Jon Greatrex, the Park Manager, from the Vale Council provided a vehicle to take away the bramble and also provided some tools, protective gloves and eye protection.
Only at the end of the season will Old Penarthians realise the full extent of their away defeat to Llandaff North in Specsavers Division 3 East Central (B) by 7 points to 5 on their promotion ambitions.
This was a match which could have been won even though for the second time in three weeks the team was unable to field a fully qualified front row.

A well known South Wales coffee business is set to open its sixth store at Penarth's old Fig Tree restaurant.
Coffi Co, which has already set up five shops in the South Wales area, has announced that its latest coffee stop will be based in Penarth's iconic seaside building.

The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) has released data on passengers passing through stations throughout the UK. The figures show a large increase in station usage for Penarth.
In the period 2017/2018 Penarth station saw 626,950 users enter and exit the station. This figure has since risen to 739,030 over 2018/2019 period, which is a change of 17.9%.
