16 and 17 year olds from Penarth and around Wales will be able to vote for the first time at the Welsh General Election in 2021, as part of the biggest changes to the democratic process in Wales in half a century.
According to data from Understanding Welsh Places, 9.2% of Penarth's population is made up of 16-24 year-olds, which is the fourth biggest group out of the 8 age ranges in the area.
Penarth bus users should be aware that there have been changes implemented on passes and new travel cards will be rolled out across the area.
Transport for Wales are rolling out a new-style Concessionary Travel Card across Wales, which replaces all existing old-style cards (the green bus passes) in circulation.

Mitchells and Butlers have issued an apology after the closing of a dovecote at their site, the Captain's Wife, in Sully.
Public pressure from local residents, community groups and rescue centres lead to the announcement of the reopening of the dovecote.

Tomorrow, both the mens and womens Barbarians sides are coming to Penarth RFC to conduct an open training session ahead of the teams double header against Wales men and women at the Principality Stadium on Saturday.
Both sides will be training between 10am - 12pm with the Women's team also running an afternoon session.

THE owner of a Penarth shop has had to pay around £6,000 after admitting two offences under the Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations 2013 and two under the Electrical Equipment Regulations 2016.
Trishna Singh could not provide information for henna products she was selling at A-Z Dragon Discount on Windsor Road, which were also found to be labelled incorrectly, following a trading standards investigation for Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Deco, a new cafe and bar, has opened its doors for the first time in the building previously occupied by the Jaflon Indian Restaurant in Penarth.

Data from the Welsh Government's latest Local Authority Municipal Waste Management Statistics suggests that the Vale of Glamorgan, recycling rate, which includes the data from Penarth, have risen to 74.2 percent between April and June 2019.
The latest figures display a 12.2% increase compared to the same quarter in 2018. This is well above Wales' ambitious national target of a 65% recycling rate by 2019/20 and 70% by 2024/25.
