RESIDENTS in Penarth have expressed shock and anger after footage of a young man vandalising railings in the town was posted on social media.

Two other youngsters are captured watching their friend carry out the damge and laughing.

The incident happened on Monday (5 January) between 4:15 and 4:18pm on Paget Road.

There has been widespread condemnation of the incident, which has been reported to the police.

Local Vale of Glamorgan councillor Anthony Earnest says: "These newish railings cost Council Tax payers a large amount of money. Please report these vandals if recognised to the Police and Vale Council."

The damaged railing has been repaired to ensure safety.
