Woman, 58, abused in aggressive hate crime

Police are appealing for information as they investigate a reported hate crime incident on Penarth Road.

At around 9:30am on Wednesday (December 29), a 58-year-old woman was verbally abused at the crossroad junction of Penarth Road and Taffs Mead Embankment, a police report said.

The driver of a white Nissan got out of the car, acted aggressively and was verbally abusive towards the woman, who was in a silver Peugeot 307.

It was reported that the suspect damaged the victim's windscreen with their elbow, then made off down Taffs Mead Embankment and Pendyris (away from Penarth and further into Cardiff city).

Investigations are ongoing and South Wales Police have asked anyone with information that could assist them to get in contact, quoting reference number 2100450641.

In a statement, South Wales Police Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan said: "We are appealing for information regarding an alleged vandalism and hate crime incident that took place at the crossroad junction of Penarth Road and Taffs Mead Embankment at around 9.30am on Wednesday 29 December.

"It was reported that a driver of a white Nissan got out, acted aggressively and was verbally abusive towards a 58 year-old woman in a silver Peugeot 307.

"The suspect also damaged the victims windscreen with their elbow. They then made off down Taffs Mead Embankment and Pendyris Street.

"Investigations are ongoing and we would ask anyone with information which could assist to contact us quoting occurrence 2100450641.
