Westbourne School has been ranked the fifth best Welsh independent secondary school by the Sunday Times Schools Guide, for the second year in a row.

The schools guide ranks schools based on the GCSE and A-Level results achieved in summer 2020.

Westbourne School ranked 68th across the UK, with 96.7% A-Level A*-B and 59.2% GCSE A*/A/9/8/7.

The independent secondary school has consistently performed well in the Sunday Times School Guide in recent years.

In 2017, Westbourne School was the seventh best Welsh Independent Secondary School, and in 2018 it topped that list.

In the school's last ESTYN inspection in 2018, Westbourne School was ranked 'excellent' in every category.

"The standards achieved by pupils at Westbourne School are extremely high and pupils with English as an additional language make particularly good progress," read the report.

"Pupils are well-motivated, enthusiastic learners who engage eagerly with the wide range of opportunities the school provides.

"Pupils feel that the school values their contributions and provides a safe environment where 'you can be unique'.

"Where teaching is most effective, teachers ensure that their lessons inspire all pupils and encourage them to think and to explore ideas for themselves.

"The proprietor and the school's senior leadership team have a strong, clear vision that they share exceptionally well."
