Wales Air Ambulance is offering charity spaces for the sold-out Cardiff Half Marathon on October 2, 2022.

The event gives participants the opportunity to take part in the half marathon whilst raising money for the lifesaving charity.

Each participant will have to raise £200 each. Once they reach their halfway fundraising target of £100, they will receive a Wales Air Ambulance running vest.

The Wales Air Ambulance service offers advanced critical care across Wales. It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership between the Wales Air Ambulance Charity and the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS Cymru).

As a result, the service is consultant-led and is known as a 'flying emergency department', taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient at the scene of an incident.

This includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.

The charity needs to raise £8 million every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.

Wales Air Ambulance's Events and Partnerships Fundraiser, Elen Murphy said: "If you've missed out on a space for the sold-out Cardiff Half Marathon, we have a great opportunity for you to take part, whilst raising funds for our 24-hour lifesaving service.

Each participant will receive a Wales Air Ambulance running vest when they've reached their halfway fundraising target. Fundraising events, like the Cardiff Half Marathon, will continue to help us to be there for the people of Wales when they need us most via our four aircraft and rapid response vehicles.

"Please get in touch if you would like a charity space."
