ALLEYWAYS connecting the St Paul's Avenue flats to Hazel Road and Lavernock Road in Penerath were described as being in need of improvement after feedback from residents highlighted concerns about litter, safety after dark and the overall appearance of the area.

In response, Vale of Glamorgan Council teams led a community litter pick with the help of officers from Penarth Fire Station as well as an art transformation project over the Spring.

Year eight students from Stanwell School also collaborated with local graffiti artists Kyle and Ceri from Hurts So Good to paint a vibrant mural featuring designs inspired by Cosmeston Lakes, the coastline, and local wildlife.

The final artwork to be completed was a mural reading 'Keep Your Lane Clean' and serves as a lasting reminder of the work undertaken in the alleyway.

Cllr Mark Wilson, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood and Building Services, said: "The clean-up and artwork project around St Paul's Avenue has been like a breath of fresh air for the area.

"Through our ongoing placemaking work in Penarth, we engaged with residents, listened to their concerns and worked to bring the community together so that everyone can feel safer, take pride in their local area, and make Penarth a great place to live."
