Two Callouts for Penarth RNLI With Smoking Boat and Broken Down Yacht

Penarth RNLI has had a busy start to the hot weekend with two rescues to kick it off. The first was to a broken down yacht before being followed closely by a call to a smoking boat.

"Both of our lifeboats launched today, 7th August, shortly after 12:30 pm following a request from Milford Haven Coastguard.

"Crews responded to reports of a 26ft yacht with engine difficulties in the mouth of the Usk.

"Working together with SARA lifeboat The vessel was located and towed back to its starting position by the Atlantic lifeboat. All onboard were safe and well.

"By 2:30 pm both lifeboats had returned to station and were made ready for our next call.

"Also paged to assist were Penarth coastguard rescue team.

"The lifeboat then relaunched to a boat smoking off the foreshore. Towed back to Cardiff. Atlantic just recovered."

Lifeboat Operation Manager Jason Dunlop said: "We are in for a hot few days at the coast. Please respect the water and help us to save lives at sea we also have very big tides this weekend in the Bristol Channel."
