A traditional cottage (3 Harbour View Cottages) with views of Cardiff Bay and the Bristol Channel is to be demolished and replaced by a larger, more modern dwelling.

The existing semi-detached property adjoins to 2 Harbour View Cottages, which was demolished and redeveloped in 2012.

The front door currently faces a vibrant and flowery garden, much of which will be built on in order to extend living space and the driveway.

In the final report authorising the planning application, the Vale of Glamorgan planning department said:

"The existing dwelling, whilst of some age is not of a significant architectural merit and given the mixed modern street scene and context its demolition is considered acceptable.

"The street scene comprises a marked mix of designs and building form, and the proposed form, scale and design of would not appear incongruous in that context."

The building is not listed, nor is it situated within a conservation area.

The plans were shown to have "no adverse impact on neighbouring amenity, parking, amenity space, biodiversity, drainage or contamination".
