Town Council Delighted as Thousands Feast at Picnic Penarth

Penarth Town Council thank the thousands of residents and visitors gathered in Penarth Town Centre to enjoy Picnic Penarth over the weekend of 14th and 15th September.
Penarth Town Council revisited their very own pop up street food feast which has enjoyed huge success over the years.
This year proved to be bigger and better than ever.
As before, the event was free and following all the improvements made over previous events, this year's Picnic Penarth was proudly plastic free.
Organisers were delighted to welcome back a host of lip-smacking traders from previous events, along with mouth-watering new faces and many of our much-loved local businesses.
Those talking part included Bella Paella, Doughnutterie, Dusty Knuckle Pizza, Ele's Little Kitchen, Hard Lines Coffee, Hohi Hogi Hogi, Keralan Karavan, Meat and Greek, Meating Point, Ridiculously Rich by Alana, Riverford Organic Farmers, The Crepe Escape, Brod – The Danish Bakery, The Pudding Wagon, Tukka Tuk, Umpa Lumpa Sweet Shop, Utility Warehouse, Vale Roast Meat Company and Windsor Fruits.
Picnic's largest crowds ever enjoyed on stage entertainment from a host of local acts including the Mark Jermin Stage School, Harri Pain, Cat's Claw Twmpath, Evolution Dance, Nick Hoare and Curtis Lee.
DJ Hoarez put together some fantastic sets, supported by Matt Pearse & The Lunar Ensemble.
For the first time, slots were available for open mic and the local talent was enthusiastically received by the town.
Bars were provided by local traders, including Bar 44 and The Bear's Head, using biodegradable glassware.
Local foodie havens such as Fauvette provided special Picnic takeaway options and Rowleys Jewellers kindly provided a wonderfully immersive pop up quiet space to assist visitors.
Vale Amusements rides and games and face-painting were on hand, all against a background of family friendly entertainment on stage.
Penarth's own Shop Penarth scheme supporting local independent traders was on hand to promote the loyalty scheme and local traders to attendees, who included MP Stephen Doughty, international singing superstar Bryn Terfel and Wales' football hero Joe Ledley.
Town Clerk, Emma Boylan said "We're delighted that so many thousands enjoyed Picnic Penarth, which has proved hugely popular with the community and attracted so many visitors to our town centre.
''The event continues to be a great success, adding to Penarth's well-deserved reputation for high quality food and independents.
