Sully Festival Online 2020 is set to bring residents remotely together over the Easter weekend despite the constraints of the coronavirus lockdown.
After its 2020 events calendar was obliterated by COVID-19, Sully Village Group (SVG) has mobilised its volunteer network to organise SullyFest Online 2020 – a virtual music festival for the community.
Taking place from 2 pm – 6 pm on Easter Sunday, SullyFest Online 2020 is a Facebook live event that aims to lift the spirits of local residents by bringing them together from the safety of their own homes.
The first-ever Sully festival was held in September 2019 and attracted over 3,700 people.
Organised by SVG in just over three months, this free-to-attend community-led initiative was set to be an annual family event for the village, taking place on the Burnham Avenue community fields as part of a vision to bring Sully residents closer together.
With live events not currently an option, SVG was undeterred with its vision – with SullyFest Online 2020 arranged in under two weeks.
Co-hosted by a series of music artists, event attendees will be in for an afternoon packed full of entertainment, including a face painting competition and pet show.
Hannah Bevan Mohaffel, SVG Co-Chair, comments: "Like anyone with an events programme, we are gutted that we've had to cancel and postpone everything that was previously in our calendar – including an Easter SullyFair and SullyFest.
''We also know that it's really hard on people staying at home and not socialising with their friends and family – but stay at home we must.
''That's why we're getting creative. People can join us online, get lost in the music and even make new friends as they'll be able to chat on the event page.
"Community spirit is more important now, than ever. And we want to keep this spirit positive and high. We couldn't have pulled SullyFest Online 2020 together without the time and support of the artists, so to them, we are hugely grateful."
Many of the virtually performing artists played live at SullyFest 2019.
Performing free of charge again for SullyFest Online 2020, the artist line up is confirmed as follows:
- Blue Evolution
- Matt Crude from The Crudes
- Patsy Hunt
- Geoff Scott
- James Bramhall (DJ set)
- Joan Hoctor from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Local Blues rock band, Blue Evolution will also be launching their debut album ahead of SullyFest Online 2020. 'Skin & Bones' will be available from iTunes, Google Play Store and all major streaming services from week commencing 6th April 2020.
