The owner of Stol Coffee in Penarth wants more people to come along to a community event he has been running for over two years.

Together is Better takes place at Alexandra Park between 10:00 – 12:00 every Sunday and is a "mini-festival" that celebrates the local community.

Piotr Skoczylas, 30, owner of Stol Coffee, started Together is Better near the beginning of lockdown. "I wanted to bring people together in some shape or form," he said.

"Coffee shops were closed, but people were still allowed outside for about an hour. It was great for everyone to get out for some fresh air and some conversation, and it was brilliant for mental health.

"Now, it's become this big thing where we get together every Sunday, create new relationships, connect with nature and strengthen our community."

People can attend to make new connections and get to know others in the local community. "People don't even have to buy a coffee or anything. They can just turn up, have a chat, and move on," said Mr Skoczylas.

Currently, around 30 people attend the event every Sunday and everyone is welcome.

In March, Mr Skoczylas helped organise an early morning swim and coffee morning at Penarth Beach with Dawnstalkers and Cardiff for Ukraine which raised more than £1,000.

Proceeds were donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee and the Happy Kids Foundation.

If you would like to speak with Piotr Skoczylas about Together is Better attending, you can call him on 07477 114009, drop an email at [email protected] or send a message on Facebook.
