More than 150 people took part in an early morning swim and coffee morning at Penarth Beach which raised more than £1,000 for the Ukraine crisis.

In collaboration with the early morning swimming club, Dawnstalkers and Cardiff For Ukraine, Penarth-based Stol Coffee set up the event which started at 06:30 on Sunday, March 27 to raise money for the people of Ukraine.

As well as braving a cold swim, people were able to buy coffee and sweet treats from Stol Coffee, roast marshmallows at a fire, and let off blue and yellow balloons in solidarity.

Piotr Skoczylas, 30, owner of Stol Coffee, told Nub News: "It was great to see so many people on Sunday morning. Even if people were not able to donate any money, it was important for them to turn up and show that we're all united and doing what we can to help."

All proceeds will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee and the Happy Kids Foundation. People could donate either by cash or using contactless payment and Stol Coffee covered the transaction fees.
