Year 11 pupils at Stanwell School have once again enjoyed exceptional achievements at GCSE level.

Year 11 Tutor, Mr Paul Griffiths said, "today is all about celebrating the excellent results achieved by the pupils with the ongoing support of staff and parents.

''It makes all the hard work worthwhile when we see so many pupils fulfilling their potential and obtaining the qualifications they need in order to pursue the next stage of their education.

''The pastoral team has enjoyed working with this year group and wish them all continued success in the future."

Year 11 pupils at Stanwell School have once again enjoyed exceptional achievements at GCSE level.

This year the traditional measure of Level 2 plus, which requires five or more Level 2 passes (A*-C grades) including English language and mathematics is 76%.

Particularly pleasing was the performance at the highest grades with 39% of students gaining 5 or more A* to A grades and an amazing 25% achieved 10 A grades or better.

In the new performance measures the capped 9 average score was 414, equating to 9 B grades for every pupil in the year group.

The Literacy, Numeracy and Science average points measures were 46.3, 44.5 and 45.5, again representing B grade averages.

In the Welsh Baccalaureate we are delighted that 97% of the cohort achieved the Skills Challenge Certificate, with 90% of them achieving this at National level.

The proportion of A* grades awarded this year was 17% and overall, more than 1450 entries were graded A* or A, which equates to 36% of all results.

61% of all entries were A* to B and an impressive 83% of all examinations taken were graded A* to C.

The following 10 pupils were awarded 12 A* grades or more:

  • Anna Hughes (14 A* grades, 1 A grade & 1 B grade)
• Ella Radford (14 A* grades & 1 A grade)

• Charlotte Crick (13 A* grades & 2 A grades)
