Spectrum Singers Concert Coming to Penarth

16th Dec 2019 | Local News

Get into the Christmas spirit this Wednesday with the return of local choir Spectrum Singers.

Spectrum Singers is a Penarth-based chamber choir. They are a mixed SATB (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) choir of experienced choristers from around Cardiff and the Vale numbering just 16 voices.

The choir's name reflects the extensive range of music they perform, from show tunes and pop songs in concert to classical pieces and sacred music in cathedrals.

Highlights for the choir from recent years have included a performance at Cardiff's St David's Hall in support of Eric Whitacre and the premiere of a new work broadcast on BBC Radio 3 as part of Making Music's Adopt a Composer scheme.

The choir has a very exciting and varied seasonal repertoire planned for local residents.

They are making their way to Penarth to bring the festive period to light this week.

They will perform songs such as: Rockin' around the Christmas Tree, Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Santa Baby, Sussex Carol, Hush My Dear, My Lord Has Come, Shepherds Awake, God Bless You, Brother and a show-stopping festive fugue, Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

Plus, a few festive favourites will be thrown in from Carols for Choirs.

They look forward to meeting residents and visitors at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Plassey Street on Wednesday 18th December at 7.30pm.

The event will cost £3.00 per person, £5.00 for couples, to members and non-members alike. Entry includes a free cup of tea or coffee and a mince pie. Payment can be taken on the door.
