The Penarth Operatic & Dramatic Society (PODS) are about to unveil its plans for this year's family pantomime, The Snow Queen.

Auditions will be taking place at the beginning of September and the search is on for the next panto star and backstage hero.

On Thursday, August 18, BAFTA winner Andy Bradshaw who is writing and directing this dazzling new panto will be presenting a preview of The Snow Queen for anyone who might like to be involved.

Whether it's treading the boards, working backstage or getting involved with the pre-production work for the show, why not go along to find out more about it - you could be PODS next panto star!

Andy will be assisted in the presentation by PODS head of Musicals and the show's co-director, Kim Herniman and their new head of Music, Clare Gardner. The evening will be an opportunity to find out about the pantomime and its fabulous characters as well as audition pieces and songs.

You may prefer getting involved backstage or with costumes, props or as part of the PODS Front of House Team welcoming guests to each performance. Whatever your preference, come along and enjoy a social evening with PODS to find out more about the production and how to get involved.

Following last year's sell-out success with its pantomime Cinderella, The Snow Queen promises to be another triumph for PODS.

Based on the original Hans Christian Anderson story, this year's panto follows Gerda's magical adventures to rescue her friend Kai from the icy grasp of The Snow Queen.

Expect singing sunflowers, dancing crows, trolls and not-so-scary pirates in what will be a dazzling and hilarious production.

The PODS panto presentation will be at The Conservative Club, Stanwell Road, Penarth on Thursday, August 18 starting at 19:30.

Tickets for The Snow Queen are already on sale and you can book online here.
