Tabernacle Baptist Church is collecting second-hand school uniforms in Penarth in collaboration with Helping Hands for those that may struggle to afford them.

Helping Hands said: ''So many of us are feeling the pinch with finances at the moment, and one big expense is school uniforms.

"After chatting with our local Penarth food bank (Tabernacle Church, Plassey Street) they are happy for anyone who has any spare school uniform to be donated to them. Uniforms will then be able to be given to those who need it the most.

"Please can I ask that if you are passing anything on you need to check it is still in good condition (no rips or tears) and is clean. The Foodbank is open every morning 10-12."

The Tabernacle added: ''Do you have old school uniforms in good condition?

"We've had several conversations with parents who use our foodbank and are facing spending a lot on school uniforms. So we're setting up a uniform rail. We'd be so grateful for any donations you could make."

You can drop off any donations at Tabs Baptist Church on Plassey Street. They are open every weekday 10 am - 12 noon for the foodbank.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the church has been opening the foodbank every weekday morning.

If you're currently self-isolating, they have said that residents can get in touch for delivery. Reach them on 02920 702 690 or [email protected].
