At the request of HM Coastguards Penarth RNLI volunteers launched the Atlantic 85 lifeboat approximately 10 minutes after the crew were paged.

The crew were tasked to assist a motor vessel which had lost power near Lavernock Point and needed a tow to Cardiff Bay Barrage.

The inshore lifeboat soon identified the vessel and made contact.

The three people on board and their dog were found safe and well.

The lifeboat returned to the station at 8pm, and was refuelled and made ready for the next service, with volunteers leaving the station at 9pm.

The beautiful picture taken by Helm Owain Davies shows the vessel just about to be towed into Cardiff Bay.
