THE subject of a dramatic beach and cliff rescue near Barry has paid tribute to the expertise of coastguard teams who hauled them to safety.

In a  recent incident Barry and Llantwit major teams were tasked to help two people and their four dogs who were but off by the tide near Monknash.

After an extensive rope rescue, all were safely brought one at a time back up the cliff and the rescue was concluded just after midnight.

Jim Tarry was one of the couple rescued and thanked the teams, saying: "Your assistance was invaluable and greatly appreciated, we apologise profusely and couldn't have been more glad to be on top of the cliff!

"A valuable lesson learnt.

"Keep up the amazing work guys, thoroughly impressed by your amazing skills and teamwork!"
