There was a soaking for a member of Penarth RNLI's inshore rescue team, this week.

A crew was paged at 2.50pm on Wednesday (28 September) and tasked to assist a 38ft yacht which had run aground at Lavernock Point.

The D-class lifeboat launched, and the lifeboat crew checked the safety of the vessel and the people on board before relaying their anchor by wading through the water to prepare them for refloating on the incoming tide.

Once it had refloated, the yacht was then able to complete its passage to Cardiff Bay Barrage
