Penarth Healthcare Partnership (PHP) on Stanwell Road vaccinated 300 patients over the weekend, meeting the target it set itself.
The practice is now on track to achieve its ambitious goal of inoculating all patients over the age of 75 by 15 February.
According to Sian Pugh, PHP General Manager, a further 150 patients are booked in for today (2 February).
"They all worked their socks off," she told Nub News. "Doctors, nurses and admin staff – they're a really good team."
The practice has now vaccinated over 600 people. They now have two weeks to vaccinate the remaining 300 over-75s.
This comes after a delayed shipment of Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccines caused nationwide shortages and delays in January.
Sian also said that Penarth's older demographic has placed an additional strain on PHP, but that her workforce are working tirelessly to meet the target.
Some elderly residents have complained that they are yet to be vaccinated. Sian explained why this may be the case:
"They may be housebound (to be done by health board). Maybe they didn't answer their phone when we rang, lots of reasons- but those who are not on our list as housebound and haven't heard from us will do soon. Those who don't answer their phones will get letters."
Nub News yesterday reported that all residents and staff members in Penarth care homes have received first Covid vaccine
