Music in the Park, Penarth's well-loved local festival, announced that they are unable to go ahead as planned this summer due to the complications and uncertainty of the coronavirus.

The event was due to take place in the first week of July but has now been placed on standby until the organisers know more.

Friends of Belle Vue Park said: ''Following the cancellation of this year's Penarth Festival, Music in the Park will not go ahead this year in the first week of July.

''If the public health situation allows we will consider organising events later in the year, if and when its safe to do so.

''As you know the Park remains closed for the time being, we support this action to keep everyone safe during this time.

''Take care and we look forward to welcoming you back to the park in the near future.''
