A popular 'library of things' project announced its move to The Kymin on Beach Road this week.

Benthyg Penarth moved from the town centre and reopened again at the new location on Wednesday, April 13 after a short break.

The library of things launched in April last year and has since recorded 300 borrows from its inventory of over 300 items.

Popular items to borrow are a pressure washer, carpet cleaner, gazebo and cordless lawnmower which cost £3.50 - £10 per week.

Gideon Calder, chair of the Gwyrddio Penarth Greening (GPG) which runs the library, said: "We're really pleased to have found a new home for our ever-expanding library of things. It's there for everyone in the community, and The Kymin is a brilliant site."

The project aims to help people access items they need at low cost, saving money, space, and the environment.

Phil Southard Culture and Community Learning Manager at Vale of Glamorgan Council added: "It's great to have Benthyg Penarth, the library of things project, on-site at The Kymin and I'm sure the project will go from strength to strength at this wonderful location."

The move into The Kymin comes as the library approaches its first anniversary and reported on its biggest month of borrows yet in March.

Basing the project at The Kymin also reflects recent council plans to bring the site back into full use.

The project will continue to offer free delivery and collection via e-cargo bike to ensure everyone in Penarth can benefit from low-cost borrowing.
